A project titled ‘Cross-cultural analysis and capacity building in Construction Management focusing on Housing and Infrastructure sectors in Assam and Australia’ has been drafted and approved by the University of Melbourne (UoM). A two member team comprising Dr Hemanta Doloi and Prof Mark Burry from UoM were deputed for initiating the consultative process for a possible collaboration between the Govt of Assam and UoM.
The two member team visited the State of Assam during 23-27 October, 2015 and presented the project before the senior officials of the Govt of Assam on 26 October 2015 in the presence of the Honourable Chief Minister of Assam. After a presentation and further deliberation, it was resolved, in principle, that the Govt of Assam would collaborate with UoM in a mutually beneficial arrangement. Further discussion about the details and modalities of the collaboration as well as the ‘outcomes-benefits-deliverables’ of the project were discussed in a meeting with the Chief Secretary of Assam and the details of the collaboration were finalised.
